Raya is around the corner! And of course, aside from all the savory foods like rendang and ayam masak merah, we also looove the cookies we stuff ourselves with before getting our main meals. So here’s 12 common raya kuihs to make you drool this raya
1) Samperit

This traditional cookie is made of wheat flour, corn flour, custard powder, sugar and margarine. The dough is then rolled out and cut into small pieces which are baked until yellow. And of course, some has a little jelly in the middle of a flower, and some are long plank-like shape, finished with colorful sprinkles.

The bahulu is the most common raya kuih and it’s also the most loved. It comes in all shapes and sizes, and is made from wheat flour, eggs, sugar and baking powder. It can also come with a wide array of flavours such as pandan, chocolate chips and more. It has a really light and fluffy texture (the dense one are horrible), and goes best with coffee or tea.
